Sacrifice at the Cross

Jesus was in AGONY at the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified. To the point where he was sweating blood, yet…

Many martyrs have gone to the cross SINGING hymns, some burned while on the cross and some crucified upside down…

So to think that Jesus was in agony about the physical pain on the cross is absurd. Jesus was in agony because he knew he was going to bear the wrath of God. So much more happened on the cross than physical pain. Be very careful that you don’t underestimate the sacrifice Christ made for believers!

Importance of Sound Doctrine

According to these verses sound doctrine/teaching is important. The only way to test if you are under sound teaching or teaching sound doctrine is to read the Bible.

1. Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. James 3:1
2. If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. 1 Timothy 4:6
3. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. 1 Timothy 4:16
4. But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Titus 2:1
5. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 2 Tim 4:3-4
6. If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions… 1 Tim 6:3-5
7. for I give you good precepts; do not forsake my teaching. Proverbs 4:2
8. so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Ephesians 4:14

Jesus exhausted the wrath of God for believers!!

In a Bible study last week we were discussing a previous sermon on Hell when I was totally overwhelmed by what happened on the Cross!

Jesus endured much more on the Cross in addition to physical torture. Jesus exhausted the wrath of God for believers!! An eternal punishment only an eternal God could pay. A punishment the sinner would otherwise have to pay for ETERNITY!

The result of sin is death and not just a physical death but eternity in Hell. (Romans 6:23) Where the stored up wrath of God is played out. Its hard for us to really grasp eternity but here are a few points…

1. You cannot add or subtract from eternity
2. There is no half way point in eternity
3. No moments or ages

This is a punishment that we, the sinner, can NEVER pay. Yet on the cross Jesus not only endured physical torture, but a much much more sever punishment (that was meant for us), fully taking on the wrath of God for all those who would someday believe. and He CHOOSE to pay this! So in turn those he chose (Eph1:4, John 15:16) will spend eternity, debt free, in Heaven!

So to sum it up, the only way into Heaven is by putting your faith alone in Jesus Christ and trusting Him with all your heart for salvation. Doing good works and everything is a way to show that you’re saved not a way to get saved.

“We are all nuts” the chains of passivity

A quote from an amazing, encouraging, and full of faith high school student in my life. “We are all nuts!”

After an incredibly passionate encouraging talk the two of us began to realize how much we are all in need of Christ yet how afraid people are to allow him to work in our lives. We realized that often it would be easier to cut of a limb than overcome passivity and tell someone we need to talk!

We to often believe satin’s lies that people are to busy to listen, we need to just get over it, if we talk about what is going on people will think we are crazy, we are making it to big of a deal, or we are bothering someone by asking for time.

The truth is..

1. When we believe these lies it paves the way for bitterness to creep into our lives
2. God wants us to encourage and support each other
3. It is normal for your life not to be perfect! and healthy to talk about it with people you trust
4. People are blessed to talk to you not bothered!

Usually the hardest step is being bold enough to ask someone to talk. Even if there is nothing pressing in your life it is a good idea to take the time to sit down and really talk to someone. Encourage each other! ask how you can pray for each other! It will be a blessing for both of you!

Talking to someone can be the first step toward forgiveness, healing, freedom, and hope. Remember “we are all nuts” no ones life is perfect, you are not crazy if you need to talk.

After a trafficking journey that typically involves deception, rape, beatings, and constant threats, victims are often forced to live in confining and unsanitary conditions. Once formally put to work, human trafficking victims can be forced to service from 40 to 110 customers in one day.[1] Malnutrition, sleep deprivation, as well as emotional and physical abuse become day-to-day normalities. In addition, forced abortions and the contraction of STI’s, Hepatitis B & C, and AIDS are ever looming probabilities. Life for a victim of sex trafficking is hell on earth. This injustice is the reason The A21 Campaign exists.

THE STATISTICS: FOCUS EUROPE

• Trafficking in women is the second largest global organized crime today, generating approximately US$12 billion a year.[2]
• There are 1.39 million victims of commercial sexual servitude worldwide.[3]
• Over 25 percent of sex trafficked victims are trafficked from Southern and Eastern Europe.[4]
• 90% of victims trafficked into EU member states end up in the sex industry.[5]
• There is an estimated 20,000 women and girls trafficked into the Greek sex industry, earning Greece the title: “the center of trafficking in Europe.”[6]
• One study reveals that one in every 10 Ukrainian persons knows someone in their community who has been trafficked.[7]
• Tragically, only 1-2 percent of victims are rescued, and only 1 in 100,000 Europeans involved in trafficking are convicted.[8]
